Taekwondo for Kids and Teens

There is something special about watching any child start martial arts classes with our Master Instructors.  As they start progressing in our encouraging environment, you start to see every kid quickly take on a joy and sense of personal power.

BLEECKER ST DRAGONS

(3.5 – 4.5 YEARS OLD)

Our tiniest dragons will learn the basics of martial arts from our friendly and experienced instructors. Through fun drills, repetition, and games, our youngest members will begin to develop self-control, focus, and patience.

HOUSTON ST MONKEYS

(5 – 6 YEARS OLD)

You are never too young or too old to start learning martial arts. Our martial arts students will learn their basic motions, their blocking, and training on their forms. This range will have beginners just understanding how to punch and kick to higher level belts working on their memorizing and perfecting their forms. All students will be actively evaluated and prepared for their belt promotions.

BOWERY ST TIGERS

(6 – 10 YEARS OLD)

Our martial arts students will learn their basic motions, their blocking, their forms, and begin weapons training. This range will have beginners just understanding how to punch and kick to multi-year practitioners working on memorizing and perfecting forms. All students will be actively evaluated and prepared for their belt promotions.

MOTT ST LIONS

(10 – 14 YEARS OLD)

When is self control, respect for others and focus more important than during pre-adolescent years? Our highest level classes provide a space for kids to exercise and focus in a safe environment where they will build life long friendships practice healthy habits and behavior. While this age group will see many advanced students working on sparring, obtaining their highest belts and even pursuing their next black belt dan, we also welcome new students to come and try Taekwondo firsthand. They will be surrounded by experienced peers who have spent their training preparing to lead others in the inclusivity and maturity that Martial Arts training brings.

KIDS & TEENS KICKBOXING

Mixed Martial Arts inspired kickboxing is an effective form of kicking-focused self-defense.

Designed to be used without weapons for self-defense against either armed or unarmed attackers, Kickboxing consists of kicks, grappling and leg-trapping. It is considered to be one of the most effective forms of self-defense whether standing or forced to grapple on the floor. Kickboxing differs from traditional boxing in its practical use of all available body techniques to fight off an attacker, whether it’s open hand strikes, elbow & knee strikes, or anything from chopping motions to head butting. It is a system designed not for sports and point-scoring, but for real-life practical self-defense in the street or in any environment.
We have specifically tailored this program to apply the principles and skills behind Mixed Martial Arts to be appropriate for kids and teens, removing violent moves traditionally taught in Eastern methods of instruction and replacing them with thoughtful self-defense technique training. Our goal is to make the class both fun and challenging for our kids and teenagers, building their self-confidence and physical preparedness. It will be the very first time that this kind of self defense will be teach in New York.

Our littlest members may not be ready yet for our Taekwondo program, but we strive to offer families a convenient one-stop studio to make their lives easier and also happier! Let our amazing Miss Sophie lead you and your little ones through a music-filled hour of song and laughter, all with the help of some very special puppet friends!
